We get calls regarding hand scraped flooring. Don’t over pay because someone tells you it is really all hand scraped. It is hard to tell, if you are not in the business, machine hand scraped from real hand scraped. Even if it is a true hand scraped products don’t over pay. When we hear about people charging more than they should, we wonder why people buy into some of the things that are said in order to sell the job. First of all, wood flooring that is used for hand scraping varies in price and the labor is the same for everyone. Yes it may cost a little more for heavy hand scraping vs light or medium but, my gosh peple are charging $20.00 per square foot and higher and that is just for the wood and hand scraping. I like hand scraped products, but you really need to shop for quality and pricing. Don’t pay a higher price because a friend or neighbor did. Ask a lot of questions like why is it so expensive and if they say it is true handscraping and we have a better finish then others, then be careful because most finishes are the same. Don’t get me wrong some finishes are better but over all they are comparable. Waxed is a good finish, but please keep in mind that at some point your floor may have to be sanded and if it is sanded you may lose a lot of the hand scraped that you paid for.
